KOYIKKAL PALACE
The Koyikkal Palace is a palace situated in Nedumangadu, Umayamma Rani was the queen of Venad between 1677 and 1684. A rare coin presented to Jesus Christ himself, Amaida, also finds itself placed here. Also, 2500-year-old Karsha coins, Rasi coins (the smallest in the world), coins belonging to the Roman Empire and those used by a wide variety of dynasties across India, can be seen here. It is a veritable treasure trove of history.
MADAVOORPARA
A lesser-known pristine destination situated 300 feet above sea level, Madavoorpara is a favourite with pilgrims and tourists. The place is noted for its cave temple and Bamboo Bridge.Walk up to the hill through the Bamboo Bridge to spend some time in a serene and secluded space. The 100 m long Bamboo Bridge is a sight in itself. Besides the bridge, the bamboo huts atop the rock that bestows you with a panoramic view of the lush green surroundings stand apart as the main attraction of the place.
PONMUDI HILLS
Locals in the capital city of Thiruvananthapuram will declare that a weekend drive to Ponmudi is among the best ways to spend time in the city. The river at Kallar has many attractive, round-shaped boulders and brightly-coloured pebbles, especially in the upper reaches of its course. A trek to Meenmutty Waterfalls in Kallar is among the most famous trails in the area.
BONACAUD VAZHVANTHOL WATERFALLS
This 5 km not so hard trekking to Vazhvanthol is an amazing experience. At top, you can see two waterfalls. Trekking through the forest area about 2 km you will reach the first falls. Can take rest here and enjoy the place. Restart your trek to half a kilometer to see the real beauty – the Vazhvanthol Falls. A guide will accompany you for this one-day trekking programme.
